[Electro/ Electronics]


The plastics used in the electronics and electrical engineering sectors are required to offer reliable insulation properties, safe operation, and 100 % protection against electric shock. The material must naturally have a high mechanical property profile at the same time. Depending on the application transparency and color ability play are also important role.
In many cases a good fire performance is essential as well. In this context, EU Directives such as RohS (Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) now set standards both inside and outside Europe with respect to the requirements for flame retardant packages.

Makrolon® - The high mechanical strength and heat resistance of Makrolon®, coupled with its outstanding electrical insulation and safety values, including excellent surface resistance, dielectric strength and volume resistivity, make it ideally suited to a large number of applications in electrical engineering and electronics which are subject to high-level requirements.
Makrolon® is the preferred material for applications where transparency and/or flame retardance is also generally required.

Apec® ishould be used whenever stringent requirements are placed on high heat resistance and electrical insulation properties.

The combination of a range of completely different material properties ideally suit Makrolon® and the more heat resistant Apec® to products in the electrical sector like e.g. sockets, lamp covers, housing components, edge connectors, fuse boxes and switches.


Bayblend® - The balanced property combination of flow ability, toughness, heat resistance and flame retardance of Bayblend® FR grades make them ideally suited to applications in the electro technology (e.g. connectors, housings for switches and battery chargers as well as cable ducts). All Bayblend® grades show good electrical insulation properties.

Additionally, current requirements of a large number of environmental labels are fulfilled by the Bayblend® FR grades.

Makroblend® - Whenever stringent requirements are placed on heat deflection temperature, electrical insulation properties, good dimensional accuracy and stability, low moisture uptake and/or chemical resistance Makroblend® is the material of choice. Makroblend® can be found e.g. as housing for electrical tools.
