Focus on helmet visors

In summer and winter alike, it is crucial for motorcyclists and those riding on scooters to have a clear view both during the day and at night. Visors easily get scratched and dirty through their daily use in a harsh environment. And it then becomes clear whether the rider's "windscreen" is really up to the job or not.

If the visors are scratched, then light from oncoming cars or the sun appears in the form of a wide halo, which can briefly disorient the wearer. UVEX thus applies a special scratch-resistant coating to the outside of its visors. It is also important for visors to be protected against fogging on the inside, however, which is why UVEX uses a special anti-fog coating on the inside to stop the formation of water droplets caused by the visor wearer's warm, moist breath. The anti-fogging effect can be improved through the use of double-glazed visors (a special anti-fog technique).

The "helmet windows" are naturally required to have a high impact resistance so as to reliably prevent stones thrown up by the car in front, for example, from coming into contact with the rider's eye. In flying-stone tests that were carried out, visors in Makrolon^® LQ3187 withstand the impact of steel balls traveling at 420 km/h without suffering any damage. The Makrolon^® visors are fracture-proof and do not splinter. Visors for UVEX motorbike helmets are made of Makrolon^® LQ3187 which meets the particularly stringent requirements, such as 100% UV screening (up to 400 nm), with outstanding mechanical strength at the same time.
