Apec^® is the brand name used for copolycarbonates that constitute a further development of the Makrolon^® polycarbonate produced by Bayer MaterialScience AG. With its unique combination of high heat resistance, toughness, transparency, light stability and flowability, Apec^® is unlike any other engineering thermoplastic.

The product line based on this new polycarbonate technology includes grades with different levels of heat resistance, extending up to 220 °C.

The range of grades contains UV-stabilized and easy-release grades, also a medical grade** is available. The product line further contains grades with different flowability.

Apec^® 2050 is a special-purpose grade that also dissolves fully in non-halogenated solvents and is thus suitable for the production of cast film and membranes; it is used as a binder for screen-printing inks and organic photoconductors.
