As a designer object, the front headlamp not only functions as a safety component, but also has a decisive impact on the appearance of a vehicle.

The increasing use of clear-glass optics (without a prism pattern) affords an unrestricted view of all the parts behind the glass. This has led to more stringent requirements on the surface of the transparent glazing (Makrolon^® AL2647) as well as on the components installed behind it (partly Apec^®)
Producing the transparent lens without prisms in a class-A surface finish requires not only special know-how in mold construction and injection molding but also a special material.

In addition to offering a high heat resistance, the lens has to be resistant to weathering and chemicals. These properties, and the necessary abrasion resistance, are achieved through the additional scratch-resistant coating.
