A high level of safety and reliability...

...in order to avoid risks was the decisive criterion in the selection of a plastic for the IR lamp housing and the carrying arm of the incubator produced by Fisher & Paykel Healthcare. This successful project on an incubator for new-born babies received full support from Bayer New Zealand right from the very start.

Apec^® DP1-9354* was selected for this application, since it displays high heat resistance, dimensional stability, toughness and rigidity, thereby ensuring that the unit would be sufficiently stable.

Additional selection criteria:

>	compliance with safety standards,
>	outstanding surface finish and cost-efficient production of thin-walled parts by injection molding,
>	V-0 rating to UL 94 at 1.5 mm,
>	material had to be recyclable,
>	easy colorability and hence coordination with other components in metal and plastic (Makrofol^® DE and Bayblend^® FR) that are also used on this unit.
